Oh wow, some intense brain mechanisms have gone into the past few months. I'm in a tough situation and here it is. I have been accepted to FIDM with flying colors. Now, most people would be jumping up and down and screaming hooray! And I know a few people who would as well. But I seem to be stuck in this space of hesitation, still considering if it indeed is a space for me to move toward. I love this art world, and am having tons of fun with it, and I wonder if it would indeed be the right career for me, or indeed if FIDM would be the right school.

I currently have a graphic design job, which is the ironic part. I'm getting paid an entry level amount, but it's more than I get paid at a coffee shop job. It took me a while to adjust to. If I decided to go to school instead of stay here (or attempt to make it part time), what would be my reasons?

This is all I can think of regarding this

1) I want to go to school (which believe me is new)
2) I want to get more skills
3) I want to be challenged
4) I can afford it right now
5) Who wouldn't want another degree for one years tuition and a mere couple years of your life?

Reasons to stay in the job, and wait a year for school:

1) Money = +
2) Really good resume builder
3) Possible connections
4) Best of both worlds (go to school later, and get the job experience)
5) Yeah.. learn more about what it's like in this industry.

I'm lucky that I have till school starts in October to decide. I'm afraid of doing the wrong thing. I find myself torn between logic and gut. My gut wants to drive hard at something, and I think it might be schooling. On the other hand my logic says save up. Will I want to go to school in 18 months?! Probably not, but I can't be sure. Arg!!!


So if you've been kind enough to actually read this far, here is the more recent happenings in my art world aside from school. I'm happy to say that work has slowed yet not stopped my artistic process. Things are still being made and created. Hooray. My ability is slowly rising as I've learned a new shading technique from *of course* =CricketWings. This has helped my dimension a lot, and I can't wait to get better at it.

I have a couple of pieces that are being worked on currently, and hopefully you'll see those sometime soon.
